The Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has gazetted Zanu-PF candidate Cde Magna Mudyiwa’s win as the member of the National Assembly for Mudzi West constituency in a by-election held on July 24.

Zec said in the Government Gazette published yesterday that Cde Mudyiwa was duly elected with effect from July 25.

“It is hereby notified in terms of section 68 of the Electoral Act Chapter 2:13, that Mudyiwa Magna of Zanu-PF party has, with effect from July 25 2015 been duly elected as a member of the National Assembly for the Mudzi West Constituency,” said Zec chief elections officer Mrs Constance Chigwamba in the gazette.

Cde Mudyiwa won the by-election held following the death of Zanu-PF member of the National Assembly Cde Aquilinah Katsande on March 28 this year.

In the same Government Gazette, Mrs Chigwamba announced the appointment of Mr Collins Chamunorwa Muchenjekwa and Ms Agnella Kamukombe as elections officers for Marondera Central and Mbire constituencies, respectively.

The by-elections for the two constituencies will be held on September 19.

The command centre for Marondera Central would be at the District Administrator’s Boardroom corner First Street and Msasa Street, while it will be at Mushumbi High School for Mbire.

Marondera Central and Mbire constituencies fell vacant following the expulsion of Mr Ray Kaukonde and Mr David Butau from both Parliament and the ruling Zanu-PF.

Mr Kaukonde and Mr Butau fell out of favour with the ruling party after it was discovered that they were at the forefront of advancing a ploy led by expelled and former Vice President Joice Mujuru to unconstitutionally remove President Mugabe.
